Sometimes, we are responsible for helping clients maintain older products that we didn’t build from the ground up. One of those products is oscommerce. Today, I had an error I had never come across.
Can’t open file: ‘sessions.MYI’
I did some googling and most of the results said to go in with phpmyadmin and run a fix there. Unfortunately, we don’t have phpmyadmin with this server, and there wasn’t really a chance of getting that set up.
I was able to fix the issue with the following mysql command.
REPAIR TABLE sessions USE_FRM;
Once I ran that, everything was copacetic. It appears that the issue was caused by the hosting provider shutting down the server without properly stopping mysql.
